Flight options
There is no airport in Toruń, yet the nearest one offering national (Warsaw) and international connections (Frankfurt, London Stanstead/Luton, Dublin and Birmingham), is merely 52km away, in Bydgoszcz (I.J. Paderewski Airport). These scheduled flights are hardly ever fully booked, and the convenience of destinations on offer opens additional travel opportunities, i.e. to those heading for the European Athletics Indoor Championships, Toruń 2021.
The second nearest airport, offering numerous flights to most major European cities is in Gdańsk (around 170km or 1.5h drive north, A1 motorway). However, getting to the venue is also possible from other international airports, i.e.: in Poznań, Ławica (165km or 2.5h drive west, road no. 15), Warsaw, Modlin (175km or 2.5h south-east, road no. 10), and Warsaw, Chopin (260km or 2.5h south-east, A2/A1 motorway).
Car journey
Toruń is conveniently located, midway, between the junctions of the main national and international roads, which has undoubtedly contributed to the city’s development:
- A1 motorway (international E75) heading from the south, via Katowice (or Gliwice as A1), Częstochowa, Łódź to Gdańsk, in the north. see: "Getting into the city"
- national road no 10 from Warsaw (via Płońsk) to Szczecin
- national road no 15 from Wrocław north-east to Olsztyn (via Trzebnica andGniezno), crossing road no 2/motorway A2 (international E30) heading north-west to Poznań and Berlin

Train connections
The main train station - Toruń Główny is conveniently located, around 2km from the heart of the city, yet contrary to most major cities, not in its centre. Getting there is easy by taxi (approx. a 5-minute-drive) or using public transport buses no: 22, 25 and 27. Direct train connections are availableto several large cities, i.e. Bydgoszcz, Kutno, Warsaw, Poznań or Olsztyn, while smaller towns can be easily reached using local services departing from two minor stations (Toruń Miasto and Toruń Wschód).
